Mir invites investment for growth of agriculture sector | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 2: Saying that Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a vital role in boosting Agriculture and its allied activities in the state, Minister for Agriculture Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir today called upon the potential investors to come forward and investment in the primary sector to meet the growing food demands of the fast increasing population . He said state has huge potential in agriculture and its allied sectors which needs investment to make it technology driven for better returns. The Minister was interacting with the office bearers of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at his office chamber here today. Commissioner Secretary Agriculture Production, Mr Naveen Choudary, Director Agriculture Jammu, Mr Ajay Khajuria, Director Sericulture, President KCCI, Mr Abdul Hamid Punjabi and its office bearers were present in the meeting. The Minister said that sericulture which is the heritage industry of J&K, needs maximum investment under Public Private Partnership mode for its revival, while creation of infrastructure in other allied sectors of agriculture and Horticulture is also a pressing need of the time. The Meeting discussed various issues with regard to boosting agriculture and its allied sectors including , creation of a Multi- Task Force for Sericulture/Silk Industry, Special Package for Sericulture, Implementation of Integrated Sericulture projects, Soft loan for Solar water Heater System, Enhancement in revolving Fund for Cocoon Bank and Silk Exchange and revival Package for Existing Silk Reeling Units. The meeting also discussed the ways and means for the promotion of beekeeping, mushroom Cultivation, besides provisions of integrated saffron Project. |
