Sham asks for well-knit strategy to make campaign a success | Pulse Polio arrangements-2012 | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 2: Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma has called for a well-knit strategy to make the forth coming National Pulse Polio Campaign in Jammu and Kashmir a success. Speaking at a one-day workshop organized by the department of family welfare at Nagrota, near here today, the Minister stressed on launching a massive awareness campaign through print, electronic media and other effective mediums to educate the masses so that all children in the target group could be covered. He emphasized the need for close coordination between different agencies for achieving better results. The Minister said that focus should be given on the vulnerable areas, like slums, railways stations, bus stops, factories, work places, brick kilns and volunteers should motivate people to ensure vaccination to the children as their doorsteps. He asked for imparting proper trainings to the staff involved in the campaign to avoid any hardships. He also stressed for holding the meetings of task-force already constituted under the chairmanship of concerned Deputy Commissioners to finalize the strategies for the pulse polio Campaign-2012, which is beginning on Feb-19. He also stressed for active involvement of Panchayat Members in the campaign. Clarifying his stand on the issue of attachment, the Minister said that no attachment of any category is desirable and any officer found violating the standing instruction shall be liable for stern action. He directed the officers to immediately detach the officials/officers, if any attached. Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Madhu Khullar, Chief Medical officers, Block Medical Officers and officers of allied wings of the Health Ministry were present on the occasion.
