In a statement here Prof Virender Gupta, the president of Jammu State Morcha stated that he along with the other office bearers of Morcha visited Sidhra were they met the residents who complained that more than 60 Kanals of land, an area of Shah- re-Aam (common land) was encroached by the land grabbers in connivance with the authorities in the Revenue Department. "The land grabbed by the Land Mafia falls in Sidhra patwar, Tehsil Jammu under Khasra Nos 31,63,66,68,78 and 92. The respective area presently occupied by the land grabbers in the Khasras mentioned above is 27 Kanal-1Marla ( in Khasra No 31), 1 Kanal-10 Marla (in Khasra No 63), 20 Kanal-13 Marla (in Khasra No 66), 10 Marla (in Khasra No 68), 8 Kanal - 1Marla ( in Khasra No 78) and 9 Kanal- 6 Marla (in Khasra No 92), he stated further adding that matter has been brought to the notice of the revenue authorities including the DC Jammu by the people of the area number of times but so far no action has been taken and the land could not be got vacated.
In another case which was also reported in the media another piece of 26 Kanal of agriculture land in Khasra Nos 65,72 and 74 in village Sidhra, which was being cultivated Surinder Singh Manahas and his family since 1934 was factiously and mysteriously allotted to some Refugee Khyali Ram of RS.Pura in 11 December 2006 who had expired in 1992. The same land was mutated in the name of Nandh Lal and sons (Khyali Ram's sons) on August, 2006 in the same year on the ground that Khyali Ram has expired. Surprisingly the family against whose name the land was mutated does not know about this allotment in Sidhra. This land have now been transferred to a Kashmiri business man Abdul Rashid Wani and his relatives under Section 121 of Land Revenue Act by the revenue officials, he said pointing out a conspiracy of land mafia. Jammu State Morcha (JSM) has appealed the Chief Minister and other concerned authorities to take immediate steps for restoring the land back to the original person against whose name the land was allotted for the cultivation.
