BJP flays Information Officers selection List | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 2: BJP State media cell, today held a meeting in support of the aggrieved applicants for the post of Information Officers in State Government. The meeting which was attended by national executive member & state chief spokesperson Jitendra Singh and state spokespersons Ramesh Arora and Nirmal Kamal, passed a unanimous resolution expressing its displeasure over the discrimination by govt authorities, including SSRB, for manipulating the selection list and ignoring the merit of the media candidates from Jammu region. The resolution said that when there were 60 marks alloted for basic qualification and 20 for written test, it is unbelievable that only one candidate from Jammu region could make it to the division cadre and non to the state cadre. This clearly shows that there has been favoritism in allotting marks of interview/viva to help the candidates of valley and those enjoying patronage from the ruling elite. BJP Media Cell has demanded quashing of the list and asked the government to make public the marks allotted to various candidates during the selection process. The resolution further noted that each time during selection for posts in different departments, there is discrimination against Jammu but in this case tampering with the list of Information officers is a matter of grave concern because it amounts to assault on freedom of press. It also alleged that on the one hand the Chief Minister has time and again talked of giving complete freedom to the media and media persons but on the other hand his government is guilty of planting its own persons to influence the functioning of media. |
