SC's decision of 'time bound trial for corrupt officials' hailed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 2: Om Parkash Sharma Social Worker Anti corruption has welcomed the historical verdict of the Supreme Court of India whereby the Supreme Court has given directions to Government to take decisions within four months in the cases where the corrupt Public servants are to be trialed. In his statement issued to press, Sharma further said that the RTI act is though very successful in knowing the position of the cases, but there being a weak accountability commission here in the J&K State there is no law by virtue of which the matters can be decided early." He said strong Lok Pal is essential in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and accordingly the Vigilance department must be placed under the control of Lok Pal. Sharma recalled that he once had approached the Prime Minister of India for action against the one corrupt officer, namely Charanjit Sing then labour Commissioner Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that I approached the Chief Secretary J&K under the RTI Act on 22.11.2011 asking for the action on the letter of the Prime Minister's office. Besides this he had approached the Principal Secretary GAD, J&K, Jammu but action still is awaited. |
