Crime Branch books 6 alongwith 'revenue officials' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 2: The Crime Branch wing of Jammu and Kashmir police has booked two former revenue officials among six people for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy in issuing the Fard-e-Intakhab of the land acquired under Agrarian Reforms Act, which as per law could not be issued. According to official spokesperson a case has been registered against Jagdev Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Shivdev Singh and Jaidev Singh, all sons of Janak Singh, resident of village Kaink, district Jammu and the then Tehsildar Jammu S S Chib and the then Patwari, Rajinder Kumar, Halqa Domana for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy in issuing the Fard-e-Intakhab of the land acquired under sections 4 and 8 of Agrarian Reforms Act. An inquiry was initiated by the Crime Branch, Jammu to the effect that one Jagdev Singh and his brothers were in possession of land under Khasra No 500 and 525 at village Raipur, Domana,'' official spokesman in a statement issued here said. He said that the land was acquired in their favour vide Mutation No 1677 under section 8 of Agrarian Reforms Act adding, ''The conspirator Jagdev Singh and others applied for issuance of Fard-e-Intakhab of the said land which was illegally issued to them by the revenue officials.'' Based on the issued document, the land in question was subsequently sold but section 28-A of Agrarian Reforms Act prohibits the sale or transfer of such kind of land, the spokesman added. He said that the Revenue officials by abusing their official position facilitated the illegal sale of 40 kanals of land for certain extraneous reasons. A case under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471,120-B of RPC in reference with Section 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act Svt.2006 was registered against all the conspirators and investigation are in progress. |
