| PDD daily wagers staged protest rally, blocked vehicular traffic | | |

Rajouri, Feb 2: Intensifying their ongoing stir for fulfillment of demands, need base workers and daily wagers of Power Development Department (PDD) today staged a massive protest rally on 54th day of their strike.
Hundreds of these employees gathered in power station situated in Thudi area from where these carried out a massive protest rally from the station to Supdt. Engg (SE) office of PDD.
Holding empty plates in their hands, these employees said that present coalition govt is paying no attention towards fulfilling their demands. They alleged that need base workers of the department have not been given their salaries from past many years and who will justify that workers should continue their work with department without getting a single penny.
These striking employees also said that a hundreds of PDD daily wagers in district have completed more than decades as non-permanent employees but they have not been regularized even as it is compulsory that a daily wager who has completed seven years as daily wager should be regularized.
As a part of their protest, these PDD workers laid on main route connecting Rajouri to nearby areas like Budhal, Bakori, Dhangri, Palma and others which paralyzed vehicular traffic.
Later Station House officer (SHO) Rajouri Insp. Katoch came on spot and talked with these protestors after which they lifted up their dharna. Talking with Early Times, President of PDD daily wagers union Rajouri, Rajinder Bakshi said that state govt should learn that their strike has entered 54th day and they are not going to give up until and unless their demands are being fulfilled.
