However, the discussions remained inconclusive and would be discussed in another meeting of the CSC next week to finalize its report which will be placed before the Cabinet.
The Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Taj Moh-ud-din and the Minister for Health & Horticulture, Sham Lal Sharma, who are members of the CSC, attended the meeting. The Principal Secretary, Finance Department, M I Khandy, Law Secretary, G H Tantray and Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Gaznafer Hussain were also present in the meeting.
The CSC constituted a sub group to analyse the pros and cons of the GST regime. The sub group will comprise J&K Law Secretary, Advocate General J&K, Senior Advocate General and Commissioner Commercial Taxes.
Speaking on the occasion, Rather made it clear that the proposed GST regime, which envisages to subsume all other taxes like excise duties, additional duties of Excise, sales tax, VAT and Central Sales Tax into a uniform tax structure, will be considered for introduction within the special constitutional guarantees available to the State viza-viz the Constitution of India.
