District Level Anti Narcotics Task Force meeting held | | | Early TImes Report
RAMBAN, Feb 3- A meeting of the District Level Anti Narcotics Task Force to combat illicit trafficking of Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Shabir Ahmed Bhat. In the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban B. A. Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police, Ramban Parshotam Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ramban Ghansham Singh, Chief Education Officer, Ramban and other officers from Forest, School Welfare, Health, Agriculture, Rural Development, Municipalities and Drugs Control Department participated. Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the need for making awareness about the harmful effects of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic substances particularly among School and College going students. He asked the Chief Education Officer, Ramban to organize symposiums, debates and seminars in the Educational institutions particularly in the colleges and higher secondary schools in the district so that the student community is educated to be refrained from taking drugs like opium, Charas, Ganja, Newla, Tabacoo etc. Deputy Commissioner also stressed upon the officers of Rural Development and Revenue Department to organize awareness programmes among Sarpanches, Panches, Lambardars and Chowkidars in the rural areas, so that they could further educate the people. He also stressed upon the officers of the enforcement agencies i.e Police and Excise to accelerate the enforcement activities, so that the smuggling and transportation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is fully curbed. He also sought the co-operation of religious heads to join hands with the anti narcotics squad to fight the evil and harmful effects of Narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances. |
