Sham calls for exploring hidden talent of rural students

AKHNOOR, Feb 3: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma has called for exploring the hidden talent of the rural students, adding that there is no dearth of talent in the rural areas and teachers should focus in this direction.
Speaking at an annual day function of Government High School Bhalwal Brahmna, near here today, the Minister said that during the past few years, the rural students have showcased their strength in the academic as well as sports activities and brought laurel for the State. He emphasized the need for nurturing the future of rural students in such a way that they compete at different level and secure their places in various professional fields. This can be possible with the collective efforts of the teachers and parents. He stressed for close coordination between the parents and teachers to identify the weaknesses of the student and taking remedial measures for achieving the goals.
He asked the teachers to promote moral values, nationalism, patriotism and amity amongst the students so that they understand their duties towards the society and nation. He said India is a country of multi-lingual and multi-religion and need of the hour is to further strengthen the democracy and national fabric to ensure peace and prosperity for the society. The youth must take inspiration from the national heroes and forefathers who laid down their lives in long freedom struggle and liberated the country from the clutches of British rulers. They must work for making the nation stronger and upholding the rich moral ethos and culture of the India, which is the real strength of the largest democracy in the world.
Responding to the demands of the school management, the Minister announced construction of boundary wall and additional accommodation for the school. He also inspected the progress of ongoing work of Floriculture Park at Bhalwal Brahmana and instructed the engineers to complete the project at the earliest.
Director Floriculture, K.K.Sharma, SDM Akhnoor, Naginder Singh Jamwal, SDPO, Akhnoor, Mr M.H.Shah, Dy. Director, ISM, Dr. Munde, sectoral officers of various departments, Sarpanchs, Panchs and large number of local people were present on the occasion.
