Cong hitting the Jammu youth below the belt | | | Neha JAMMU, Feb 3: The meritorious youth of Jammu province have once again been discriminated against by the NC-Congress coalition government. The case in point is the rigorous exclusion of Jammu youth from the list of state cadre posts of assistant information officers. The list was prepared by the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) and the interviews were conducted in last October by the JKSSB members Basharat Ahmad and Farooq Ahmad, both from Kashmir. The list of selected candidates was made public only a few days back. The posts were advertised way back in 2008 and 2010. The nature and extent of discrimination with the Jammu youth, who are intelligent, hardworking and meritorious by any yardstick, could be seen from the fact that the Kashmiri youth captured all the 14 positions. But this is not for the first time that the Valley-centric JKSSB, or for that matter the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission and the Competent Authority, has rigorously excluded the Jammu youth either from the service sector or from the technical and professional institutions located both in Jammu province and Kashmir. It has been happening ever since 1947, when the Congress sold Jammu province to Kashmir or when the rabidly anti-Jammu Jawaharlal Nehru transferred the political power from Jammu to Kashmir to further strengthen his ties with the anti-Jammu National Conference leaders, especially Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, who had turned towards anti-Hari Singh Nehru after his failure to negotiate the Kashmir's accession with Pakistan. The BJP yesterday castigated the state government for the discrimination it perpetrated on the Jammu youth by excluding them from the selection list of assistant information officers. But it did not hit the nail on the head. It did not took to task the Jammu-based Congress ministers who say day in and day out that the present dispensation treats all the three regions equally, believes in the principle of justice and equity or equitable development of all the three regions and gives the people of Jammu province what is their legitimate due. The Congress and the Jammu-based Congress ministers are singularly responsible for what the Kashmiri rulers and the Kashmiri-dominated JKSSB, JKPSC and Competent Authority have been consistently doing to jeopardize the interests of Jammu province and its people, including the youth. The truth is that the Kashmiri rulers are destroying Jammu province socially, economically and politically with the full backing of the Congress party and the Jammu-based Congress ministers. It is the Congress and the Jammu-based Congress ministers who have mortgaged the interests of the people of Jammu province; they have bartered their legitimate rights and interests to remain on the right side of the Kashmiri rulers for the sake of personal power and profit. The real culprits are not the Kashmiri rulers; the real culprits are the Congress and the Congress ministers. The Kashmiri rulers are doing to Jammu what they are supposed to. If the people of Jammu province, including youth, really want a dispensation that is fair and just, they have no other option but to ensure two things: demise and burial of the Congress and segregation of Jammu province from Kashmir. The BJP is, it appears, not competent to play the desired role. The Panthers Party can play the desired role provided it is willing to work with a single-minded devotion to implement its agenda 2011, which was renewed at the beginning of January 2012. The agenda is comprehensive and it stands for the state's reorganization and separate assembly, separate chief minister, separate recruitment agencies, separate directorates and so on. This is the only solution. You cannot and must not expect justice and fair play in the kind of administration the Congress/Congress- supported Kashmiri rulers have been handing down since October 1947, the year when the Congress and Nehru enabled Kashmir to enslave Jammu and Ladakh or convert Jammu and Ladakh into colonies of Kashmir. |
