JAMMU, Feb 4: To encourage the talent, the Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association felicitated the medal winners in national and international events of the game in a function held at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today. Among those, who were honoured by the Association, included two players from the state, who won bronze medals in the 5th Commonwealth Taekwondo Championship held at Chennai. While Atul Pangotra won medal senior group, Mohd Saud Bhat secured third place in junior category. The list also included names of players represented the country in world championships at Russia and Nepal. Minister for Sports, R S Chib was special guest of the felicitation function. He was all praise for the Association and the medal winners in Taekwondo. Chairman of the Association, Anil Gupta, secretary JKOA, Dr Ashutosh Sharma, Deputy Director DYSS, Madan Lal, Rouf Ahmed, incharge Secretary Sports Council, Kiran Wattal, president, Handball Association, S M Bali were among those guest of honours. The list of achievements of the Association during the year included second place in 3rd North Zone Taekwondo Championships at Chandigarh and participation by Atul Pangotra in 6th World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Vladivostok, Russia. Outstanding sportspersons from other desciplines of kabaddi, skating and handball were also honoured on the occasion.
