SRINAGAR, Feb 4: The 9th 15-day basic snow skiing course, organised by the State Sports Council, came to an end with the holding of valedictory function at Gulmarg, here today. Chief Executive Officer of Gulmarg Development Authority, Mehmood Ahmad Shah was the chief guest. In all, 42 male participants in different age groups, drawn from various parts of Kashmir Province, attended the course in different age groups.During the fortnight camp, the participants were imparted basic coaching and skill training by A R Tantary, expert in the field.
Prominent among others present were joint secretary of the Sports Council, Prof B A Shah, Peer Siraj u Din, Haji Abdul Qayoom and Assistant Director Gulmarg, ILyas.
Meanwhile, to encourage the participants, the organizers gave away prizes on the basis of their performance during the camp.

Under 12 years: Technique: Fazil Yousuf, Ist; Bareek Beigh, 2nd and Maqsood Ahmad Mir, 3rd. Salalom Race: Fayzan Rashid, Ist; Tameem Mushtaq, 2nd and Abrar Ali Baba, 3rd.
Under 16 years: Technique: Umer Ashraf, Ist; Basit Bashir, 2nd and Dahim Yaseen, 3rd. Salalom Race: M Asharf Dar, Ist; Bilal Ahmed Sheikh, 2nd; Waseem Ahmad Wani, 3rd.
Youngest skier title: Zakaria Bhat, Ist; Altaf Ahmad, 2nd and Subhaib Firdous Dar, 3rd. |
