Crime Branch to submit Examgate report on Monday | BOSE also provided official vehicle to Minister's son, fixed to it Rs 60,000 gadgetry | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 4: Crime Branch is close to completing its preliminary inquiry into the unfair means scandal of J&K State Board of School Education, involving senior Congress leader and Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed's foster son, Imam Souban Bhat S/o Parvez Ahmed Bhat. Well placed official sources told Early Times that outgoing IGP Crime, Raja Aijaz Ali, would be submitting the report directly to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Jammu on Monday. SSP of Crime Branch, Kashmir, Abdul Gaffar Malik did not respond to phone calls from this newspaper but informed sources associated with the investigation said that the team of investigators called in and questioned over a dozen witnesses, including some teachers and officials of BOSE. They also took into custody relevant records to map complete track of Governor N N Vohra's communication to Chief Minister's Secretariat and there on to GAD, Education Department and BOSE. Sources said that the investigators checked over half-a-dozen receipt and dispatch registers, including those of General Administration Department, School Education Department and BOSE. Criminal culpability of then Secretary and now Chairman, Dr Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, then Director of Academics, Merajuddin Zargar, and a lady Academic Officer was established with material evidences and multiple corroborations. According to these sources, it further sprang up during the course of investigation that the candidate under cloud, namely Imam Souban Bhat, had not only been provided facilitation of unfair means but he was the Tyndale Biscoe School's only student whose migration from the prestigious Christian missionary school to an ordinary public school (Vision Public School Humhama) had been managed in the last over a decade. There appeared to be a design behind the migration. The Matriculation examination in question was taken in 2009 and the Education Minister's foster son took it at Al-Ameen Public School Humhama. According to these sources, somebody from BOSE had guided Education Minister in the entire Examgate operation, beginning with the VIP candidate's migration to a little known private school outside Srinagar Municipal limits. In addition to the copying facilitation, BOSE officials also provided an official vehicle to this very student which he drove himself for over two years and caused two minor accidents. Third one, that happened in Anantnag, was a little more serious. Driver of the vehicle was forced to appear before Police and falsely state that it he who was driving the vehicle. Sources said that a former Chairman objected to illegal custody of the BOSE vehicle besides fixation of DVD player and other gadgets worth Rs 60,000 but then Secretary and other BOSE officials, who were in cahoots with Education Minister, prevailed upon everything to keep the Minister's foster son in good humour. However, this part of the BOSE's sordid story was not being incorporated in the Crime Branch report for the reasons best known to officers of the organisation.
