Empower panchyat representatives for overall development: Cong MP Madan

Rajouri, Feb 5: Addressing a huge public gathering Rajouri here today, the senior Congress Leader and Member of Parliament from Jammu-Poonch constituency Madan Lal Sharma asked the people to strengthen the party base at the grass root level and asked for empowering Panchyat representatives i.e. sarpanches and panches for over all development around the state at ground level.
Addressing public gatherings in Sagote and Palma area of Rajouri district MP Madan Lal said underlined to bring Panchayti Raj a dream come true and reality on ground the need of the hour is to empower the elected representatives. Congress MP said that it is necessary to shift powers to the ground level institutions to make them really workable and accountable. “Rural development is impossible without the active involvement of these members, he asserted.
Further supporting the cause of the sarpanchs and panchs, Sharma concerned authorities to involve the elected representatives in the development process in respective areas and give due considerations to their institutions as they are public representatives.
MP however added that MLA’s of all the political parties need to work in synergy to strengthen the Panchyat Raj and dispense powers to panchayt representatives in the state. He exhorted the Ministers of state govt to endevour for empowering the panchayti representatives so that the development reaches to every nook and corner.
Congress MP also said that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Smt Sonia Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi are fully supporting to empowerment of panches and sarpanches as they want leaders are the real power of people and their empowerment can change the position on ground level and will pace out the developmental race. Earlier Member of Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma who is on a special three day tour of this border district held meetings at Devak and Lam area. He also sanctioned community hall in the former and plantation of 5 water hand pumps in Lam area. He was also accompained by DC Rajouri GA Khwaja, MLC Ravinder Sharma, Vice-Chairman of State OBC cell Kuldeep Raj Verma, ACD Rajouri, DRDA district officer and other senior govt officials. Later Member Parliament sanctioned 5 lakh rupees for 4 panchayats of Palma and 5 lakh rupees for same number of panchayts of Sagote area and this grant was sanctioned under the National Employment Scheme MGNREGA.
