Political satire 'Hawalaat' staged by Natrang in Sunday theatre | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU , Feb 5 : 'Hawalaat'-a Hindi satire written by famous playwright and satirist Sarweshwar Dayal Sexena was presented under the direction of Neeraj Kant here today at Natrang Studio Theatre in connection with Natrang's weekly show 'Sunday Theatre'. The play proved to be a hard hitting satire on the establishment which has failed to tap the most energetic human resource of the country. The dejected youths cry has been beautifully portrayed in the play. Speaking on the occasion Natrang Director Balwant Thakur said that theatre's prime duty is to reflect upon the society's good and bad developments and in this regard, play 'Hawalaat' speaks loudly about the maltreatment being given by the establishment to the youth of this country. The story of the play 'Hawalat' revolves around three Youth who have no place to live. It was the coldest night of the winter and they were without food and shelter. Since nobody was ready to offer them the shelter, they thought it proper to have the same in a police lock-up. For this they approached a police cop as criminals. For some time the cop is not ready to believe in them and asks them to establish their credentials by demonstrating their expertise in crime and past accomplishments. They try to convince him by giving series of logics. To avoid them, the cop agrees to take them to the lock-up (Hawalat) after tying their eyes. Instead of taking them to the Police station, the cop keeps them taking round and round at one cross road and finally leaves at the place from where they had started. The play is a big satire on the exploitation of the youth by the present system. The people in power continue to sell them dreams through their hollow slogans and no one is able to realize that most important task force of the country at their prime is getting wasted. The politicians of this country have been befooling the youth since independence in the same way the cop played with them. Uplaksh Singh as police cop portrayed the inner and outer conflict of such a complex character beautifully. Pankush Verma, Rahul Singh and Mohd. Yaseen as three young men lived their roles impressively. The music of the play which enhanced the emotional appeal of the play was operated by Balwinder Singh. The lights were executed by Neeraj Kant. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma. Sajra Qadir did the presentations. |
