NDKM stages "30 Days in September"

JAMMU , Feb 5 : "30 Days in September" spellbound the audience at performing art studio today, the socially relevant play was very well written by Mahesh Dattani, translated in hindi by Pritam katoch. The play was directed by Aaditya Bhanu. The play was performed by the artists of Nav Durga Kala Manch (NDKM).
The plot of the play is based on the love and betrayal, 'Thirty Days' treats the sensitive and generally taboo issue of child sexual abuse.
'Thirty Days' endeavors to lift the veil of silence which surrounds child sexual abuse and addresses the issue unflinchingly. It builds on the trauma of Mala who lives with the haunting memories of her abused past.
Her abuser - her uncle "subconsciously lives with her all the time, as part of her dirty reflections.
He damages her natural growth, deters her from pursuing her love interests beyond the ominous 30-day period and scars her soul every now and then. As Mala withers under the psychological pressure extorted on her by the abuser, her mother watches silently, living her own pain - suffering mutely.
The artists who gave spellbound performances include Reetu Manhas as Shanta, Heena Arora as Mala, Dilshad Shazi as Deepak and Aaditya Bhanu as Vinay.
Music and lights were handled by Anil Kotwal, make-up by Komal Parihar and presentation was done by Sakshi Dogra and Tarun Sharma.
On this occasion, many intellectual personalities were present which include Lalit Magotra, Lalit Gupta, Mohan Singh and many others from different societies of the state. After play, all were engaged in a healthy discussion about this subject "Incest and Girl Child Abuse".
