| E&T Employees demonstrate in front E&T Complex, Panama Chowk. | | | Jammu, July 31: On their 13th consecutive day of protest, the E&CT(C -IV) Employees, of the state staged a protest/demonstration at Excise & Taxation Complex Panama Chowk, to focus the attention of government towards their demand. According to a press release issued here by their Union, they are demanding their retention in the services they have been performing for past eight years and which the government is going to terminate enforcing a fresh recruitment. Their appointment, which has been made eight years ago along with 40,000 other employees after 1996, they argue, is as valid as of others, needs to be treated at par with the other appointees And should be referred to the House Committee framed by J&K govt. under its notifica-tion No:LA/220-40/AQ/2006 dated 22-05-2006. The Employees have made a strong appeal to the Chief Minister to pay attention to their demand as well as to show mercy towards them, the release said. The demonstration was addressed by leaders of various unions and is supported by people in general against this injustice, the release said, adding that the demonstration will continue till our case is referred to the House Committee without any derogatory remarks, other wise the employees will be forced to take harsh steps. Others who addressed the demonstration include Surinder Sharma (Vice President), Nazir Ahmed Bhat (Gen. Secy.) Charanjeet Ram (Cashier), Anjam Wazir (Chief Organizer), Shameem Ahmed (Joint Secy.), Narinder Dogra (Org.), Haffizullah Bhat, mohd. Ishaq Malik, Sarabjeet singh, Sanjay Kumar and others, the release added.
