Early Times Report
jammu, Feb 5: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today again betrayed the Jammuites when he failed to keep up his promise to attend the Guru Ravi Dass Ji Jayanti celebrations at Parade.
Thousands of Guru Ravi Dass Ji devotees who had assembled at parade ground today to participate in the celebrations were dismayed after CM did not keep his promise made with the representatives of Guru Ravi Dass Sabha earlier. It's not the first time that the CM betrayed the Jammuites but previously on many occasions including the Guru Ravi Dass sabha by not attending the function last year too.
The decision of Chief Minister as well as Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand to stay away from the function today has generated a lot of resentment among the people who had gathered in Parade to participate in the function.
"We should not invite such leaders who fail to keep up the promise in future, said Ram Dass of Talab Tillo who was accompanying the grand Shobha Yatra taken by Sabha from different parts of Jammu.
The CM has full time to attend such functions in Kashmir but not for the people of Jammu, he added. He said every time when our organization invited Omar Abdulla he betrayed the community and to express our resentment we should not invite him in future" he added.
Rames Langeh another social activist said that Sabha had some expectations from Government and we wanted government to make some announcements for the people of the community but to avert the same both CM and Deputy CM kept away from the programme.
Such a decision on part of the duo has sent a wrong signal among the people of Jammu as every time having high expectations the Government is betraying us. Thousands of people drawn from different parts of Jammu region who participated in the grand Shobha Yatra which culminated into a religious gathering at Parade were visibly upset over the decision of CM and Deputy CM.
However the Sabha was informed through a communique from CM's office that Omar Abdullah being preoccupied could not attend the function and he will be represented by Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjit Singh Salathia and Political Advisor Divinder Rana.
But the Sabha turned down this offer and criticized the Chief Minister for not attending the function. The Sabha President Piran Ditta while addressing the gathering said that Chief Minister was deliberately ignoring the community as last time he also did the same with the Sabha.
