NPP, BJP tear into Congress & NC, demand justice for Jammu | Duty Over? | | Neha Jammu, Feb 5: The Panthers Party and the BJP have taken on the ruling NC and Congress and accused them and New Delhi of perpetrating injustice after injustice on the people of Jammu province. The immediate provocations were two. One was the exclusion of the decaying Jammu lakes like Mansar and Surinsar from the ambit of the additional package of Rs 356 crore sanctioned by New Delhi only the other day. This package is meant exclusively for the Dal dwellers. Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, who lobbied in New Delhi for the additional package for Dal Lake, thanked the Prime Minister, the AICC president and UPA chairperson and the Union Health Minister day before yesterday saying it was because of their intervention that he succeeded in getting Rs 356 crore for Dal Lake. The other was the exclusion of the Jammu youth from the selection list of assistant information officers made public only recently. There were 14 positions and the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) did not select even a single candidate from Jammu province, which means all the 14 positions were captured by the Kashmir youth. This is not for the first time that the Panthers Party and the BJP have lambasted the NC-Congress coalition government in the state and the Congress-led UPA Government at the centre. They have been issuing press statements and holding press conferences at regular intervals to highlight the wrongs being done to the people of Jammu province, but with no result. The fact of the matter is that the NC and the Congress do not attach any importance whatsoever to these statements. There are reasons for that. One of the main reasons is that the ruling coalition is committed to harming the interests of Jammu to keep Kashmiri people in good humour. The other reason is that neither the NC nor the Congress believes in the principle of justice and equity. Undemocratic, arrogant and pro-Kashmir as they are, they willfully evolve and pursue anti-Jammu policies. The third reason is that the Congress and NC know that the parties like the BJP could be easily ignored because they do not do anything other than issuing statements and holding press conference. It would be better if the Panthers Party and the BJP realise all this and adopt an appropriate methodology to obtain justice for the ignored and marginalised people of Jammu province. Their politics of press statements and press conferences would not produce the desired results. They have to do something different. In other words, they have to come on the roads, lodge very strong protests and do all that is needed to force the NC and the Congress see reason and treat the people of Jammu province equally in all spheres and at all levels. If they still believe that their politics of press conferences and press statements would help them obtain what the people of Jammu province rightfully deserve, then it can be safely said that they are living in a fool's paradise. Even the people of Jammu province are fed up with the kind of politics the parties like the BJP are playing. They want concrete action on the ground, not mere hollow statements. |
