BOSE faces credibility crisis following Peerzada expose | | | Early Times Report jammu, Feb 5: Following the recent expose involving Education Minister's son, the Board of School Education (BOSE) finds itself in deep crisis. Nobody is ready to trust the BOSE for its `involvement' in helping the Education Minister's foster son qualify matriculation examination in 2009. A detailed report about Peerzada's son was published by local English daily last week. Taking cognizance of the report, the Chief Minister ordered a probe into the allegations. The probe was entrusted to Crime Branch. Last Tuesday, the CB officials raided the BOSE office at Bemina in the summer capital and seized record pertaining to Peerzada's son. The senior officials were also questioned for several hours. The expose has caused a stir in the Valley with every body expressing concern over the manner in which the BOSE examinations are held. The people have also expressed concern over reports that examination centers in remote areas are sold out by the BOSE authorities to help those who pay hefty sums. The BOSE instead of taking action against the erring staffers has been found involved (on occasions) helping children of influential persons. There have been instances when checking teams constituted by the BOSE have held examinees for unfair means but the higher authorities have always failed them by refusing to register cases against such candidates. The BOSE, according to an official, is passing through very difficult times. "For the first time in my career, people look at me with suspicion. It is insulting. We have to make amends before it is too late", he said. "The BOSE is a vital institution and its credibility has to be restored", he added. |
