JSM criticizes state, centre's discrimination with Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES Report Jammu, Feb 6: Jammu State Morcha,(JSM) has strongly criticized the Government of India as well as the State Government for following the policy of blatant discrimination against Jammu region. Sanctioning of a package of Rs. 386 crore exclusively for Dal Lake in addition to the allocaton of Rs. 1100 crore and 386 crore for preservation, development and beautification of Dal Lake and Wuller Lake, respectively with no mention of any such allocation for lakes in Jammu region, particularly the Mansar and Surinsar shows apathy of the Government towards the development of tourism in Jammu Region. This was said by Virender Gupta, president JSM in a press release issued today. He said the lakes in Jammu region deserve at least equitable treatment from the Government, keeping in view the fact that last year about 1 crore tourists visited Jammu region to pay their obeisance to Mata Vaishno Devi whereas the tourist visiting the Kashmir Valley were merely 2 lac. It is irony that State Government as well as the Government of India has only concern for the water bodies of the Valley only, ignoring Jammu region water bodies altogether. The members of JSM also expressed their strong resentment that Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board selected all the candidates from Kashmir Valley only against the 14 positions of Asstt. Information Officers. None from Jammu and Ladakh region was found suitable for the posts as per JKSSB. They were also critical of the fact that the people in snow bound and mountainous reaches of Jammu region like Doda, Bhadarwah, Kishtwar, Ramban and Poonch did not receive the attention of State Government as desired. The members of JSM re-emphasized the need for the demand of trifurcation of J&K State as the people of Jammu region shall continue to face un-attended sufferings and discrimination at the hands of Kashmiri leaders and Valley centric policies of the national political parties and the Government at the centre under the present political set up. |
