Rajouri-Poonch facing shortage of doctors: Gupta | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 6: Terming functioning of health department in Rajouri-Poonch districts as defunct, State Secretary of Bharatiya Janta Party Vibodh Gupta has said that there is lot of discrimination towards Rajouri-Poonch people in providing health facilities to the masses as the district is under 60 percent shortage of doctors and para-medical staff. He has also expressed deep concern over the grim situation of District Hospital where only 70percent posts of doctors are lying vacant. In a press statement issued today, Vibodh Gupta said that Rajouri-Poonch districts are worst districts in regard of health facilities and there is huge discrimination with the patients of this area. He said that both twin districts are having 60 percent shortage of doctors and para- medical staff and the situation has turned grim in the area. On the acute shortage of staff in DH Rajouri, Gupta said that only 8 Assistant Surgeons are working in District Hospital against the posts of 22 doctors. He said that besides this the medical equipments including X-ray, CT Scan, Ophthalmic, Ultrasound machines are lying idle as there are no operators and people have to go to Jammu for these facilities as there is no radiologist in DH Rajouri. He added that no radiologist has been posted in the Hospital. He said that post of Physicians, 2 Surgeons, eye specialists are also vacant. Terming the hospital useless, Gupta said that the hospital will not function properly till doctors and para medical staff quarters are constructed in the hospital premises. He said that the hospital is incomplete and there are no quarters. He added that patients have to search for the doctors and paramedical staff somewhere in the city. |
