Cong concerned to the plight of the people of border areas: Dr Romesh

Sunderbani, Feb 6: Former MLA and MoS Dr Romesh Chander Sharma addressed an impressive rally at Thicka in Sunder Bani of Nowshera (Rajouri) in which senior congress leader apprised the people about the funds which have been released for Beri Pattan Lift Irrigation scheme. He said Congress leadership is cornered over the plight of people in border region
Speaking on the occasion Dr Romesh Chander Sharma former MLA from Nowshera constituency apprised that a Project estimating to Rs. 3176.00 lacs has been submitted to Govt and is being considered for funding under AIBP.
"Beri Pattan Lift irrigation project was sanctioned in 2002-03 in the Cabinet Cum Board meeting, he said and added that the objections were raised by the Govt of Pakistan under Indus Water Treaty. "Thereafter in 2007-08 and Govt of India sanctioned 51.5 Crores for the said project, he said.
He said that the work on the project remained pending because of mid-term poll in 2008-09. Now centre has again released the funds for the said project. Accrediting the party leadership for their role in getting the dream come to true for the people o Sunderbani through this project, he said that the due funds have been released by the personal initiative of the-UPA-Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister of India Dr. Man Mohan Singh, and Union Health and family planning Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Sahib,
The following schemes have been approved for the area which included Lift Irrigation scheme Chajja (Rs 99.00 Lacs); Lift Irrigation scheme Liki- Tala (Rs 50.25 Lacs); Lift Irrigation scheme Rajpur Kamlia (Rs 59. 19Lacs); Lift Irrigation scheme Jinda Peer (Left) at an estimated cost of Rs. 68.00 Lacs; Lift Irrigation scheme Beti Pattan (Rs.51.08 crores); Lift Irrigation-scheme Langer (Rs 265.00 Lacs); Lift Irrigation scheme Kalsian ( Rs129.00 Lacs) and Bansi Kheter (Gravity) Rs 21.45 Lacs Local leaders also appreciated Minister for Public health Engineering and Floor Control Taj Mohi-ud-Din who helped in providing the funds for the said project and also expressed their gratitude to Dr Romesh Chander Sharma who got the funds released by his hard efforts and got the schemes submitted under AIBP Head during the year 2007-08. Former MLA also addressed public meeting at Beri Pattan, Likhi and Thanger villages. Roshan Lal, Mohd Farooq, Jyoti Sharma, Babu Rajinder Sharma, S Hari Shoor Sarpanch, Deputy Lal Sharma, Lumberdar Pritam Singh, Panch Bhola Ram Panch Dharam Pal Panch Pushkar Raj and Panch Haji Kalu Khan also addressed the meetings.
