Katra police deny ET report; miscreants continue to sell Chicken @ Rs 140 per kg..! | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6: Even while Katra police have denied the news report published in ET on February 2nd pertaining to miscreants involved in sale of chicken/mutton bash raiding cops and escape free hand, today's "rate" of chicken at the very same locality was Rs 140 per kg! The average rate of chicken in Jammu is Rs 90 per kg. Today, in an official handout issued by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Katra, Mohan Lal termed the news published in February 2nd edition of ET as false and baseless and further claimed that "no such incident has taken place in Katra town". ASP, Katra, Mohan Lal has further stated that "it is intimated that we have come to know about such type of incident through your News paper only as no such incident has taken place in Katra town as reported in your News paper." He has further stated to publish the said rebuttal. However, ET team stands by its report. It is most important to inform the senior Cops posted at Katra town that the miscreants just stopped the sale of chicken from their respective hideouts for few days after the publication of the report. Surprisingly, after observing no action against them by the senior police officers, the miscreants re-started its illegal business in the inner lanes of the Katra town. ET team today secretly visited an area (locally known as Karwaal) near Old Petrol Pump and adjacent to an Old Mosque where some miscreants were selling chicken at exorbitant rate of Rs 140 per kg. Without disclosing the identity, when ET team asked if no one stops them for selling chicken, the person mocked, "Who will inform the police? If you are asking for chicken, naturally, you want it for your consumption. So who would wish to be caught?" Such miscreants are operating from their houses and not from shops. They secretly manage the chicken and sell from indoors. Only those who eat chicks visit such hideouts and not the common people. Whenever the patrolling police party approaches the said narrow lanes, they just lock the houses. Instead of face saving attempt, senior police officers shall form a special police team to check the nuisance. Early Times is known for explaining truth. |
