CM for excellence in higher education | `Relieve tainted, change system' | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6: Few days after ordering investigation against his Education Minister for misusing his official position to help his foster son qualify the matriculation examination, the Chief Minister today sought a `broad-based vision document' for development of higher education in the state. Addressing the 1st meeting of JK State Advisory Council for Higher Education (ACHE) here, the Chief Minister said that the need of hour is to upgrade the quality and the product in education sector and make the State a choicest destination for higher studies. Omar urged the Vice Chancellors of various Universities to ensure qualitative development of human resource in educational centres so that students from other places would get attracted to pursue their educational goals in Jammu and Kashmir. Well the state has already become a `choicest destination 'for school education under the `dynamic' leadership of Education Minister Peerzada Muhammad Sayed and the `prudent' BOSE officials who sell examination centres to help the students. According to renowned educationists, excellence can be achieved by effecting changes in the existing system. "They system needs changes if not a general overhaul. The system of examination needs to be changes. Instead of asking the students to write question papers, they must be assigned projects. They will work on the project under the supervision of a guide. At the end of the session, they will need to explain the project. This alone can put an end to unfair means and ultimately lead to excellence." |
