| Awareness camp held at Jorian, Akhnoor | | | JAMMU|Jan 17
As a sequel to endeavours of Social Welfare Department of empowering womenfolk through a number of schemes, 1-day awareness camp organised by CDPO, ICDS, Akhnoor Mrs. Rachna Sharma at Jourian Belt was held to acquaint adolescent girls with the ways of living a healthy life.Nearly, 280 adolescent girls and native ladies participated in the camp, which was arranged under ‘Kishori Shakti’.During the camp, several multi-pronged strategies of how can a female especially a rural women can survive and progress in today’s era of globalization and liberalization were deliberated upon. Block Medical Officer, Dr. Jagdish Rai delivered lecture on the significance’s and consequences of early marriage and early motherhood and also the benefits of safe-motherhood in the long run. CDPO, who also delivered some informative lectures during the camp, educated the participants about the ways of facing all impeding challenges of present time and lead a dignified life. The girls were also educated about importance of female education and the ways to curb the menace of dowry and domestic exploitation and other related issues. |
