| Guru Ravi Dass Jayanti celebrated at Akhnoor | | Sham asks people to follow teachings of Guru Ravi Das ji | | Early Times Report
AKHNOOR, Feb 7 - Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma has urged the people to adopt the teachings of the Spiritual Guru Ravi Dasji, adding that his teachings are most relevant even today and will remain the source of inspiration as well as belief for times immemorial .
Addressing a large gathering of devotees at a function organized in connection with the celebrations of Guru Ravi Das Jayanti, here today, the Minister said that a real tribute to this great saint will be to follow his teachings in true spirit and serving the mankind selflessly. While throwing light on the life and contribution of Guruji, he said throughout his life, he served the humanity and worked tirelessly to uplift the poor and weaker sections of the society. He said Guruji proved that caste has no meaning and humanity and service to the mankind is the only caste. He said that every human being should take inspiration from his life and work for the development of the mankind.
Stressing the need for maintaining and promoting moral education ,he asked the social and religious organizations to work in this direction. He said during the past some years, due to the influence of the western culture and commercialization in the education set up, the younger generation has derailed from the basic principles and need of the hour is to promote human values to uphold the age old traditions of Indian culture. The minster maintained that younger generation is moving fast towards the scientific world, it's nice to be contemporary, but they should not forget their roots and basic duties towards the society and mankind. It is prime duty of the parents, teachers and religious heads to show right path to the youth so that they contribute for the welfare of the society. He also called for collective efforts to bring reforms in the society to eradicate various social evils, which are ruining the society, he added.
The Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Akhnoor also facilitated the Minister on the occasion. The Sabha organized an impressive Bhajan-Keertan programme and Guru Ka Langer (community lunch). Hundreds of devotees from different parts of Akhnoor and other areas participated in the function. |
