Police Martyrs badminton championship from Feb 9

UDHAMPUR, Feb 7: With a sole aim of paying the homage to the Police Martyrs and to strengthen police public relations by way of sports activities in Udhampur and Reasi districts, Range Police Headquarter Udhampur is organizing First Range level Police Martyrs Memorial Badminton Championship at Indoor Badminton Complex Udhampur from February 09 to February 14, 2012 under Civic Action Programme.
This was disclosed by Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur- Reasi Range, Jagjit Kumar during a brief interaction with media persons at District Police Lines Udhampur here today.
The DIG said that the championship would be organized with the Technical Assistance of Youth Services and sports departments as per the rules and regulations of Badminton Association of India.
He said that as many as 80 badminton players from the district Udhampur and Reasi are expected to participate in this championship under 14 years boys and girls, 19 years boys, 19 years girls, above 19 to 45 years and above 45 years categories.
The DIG further disclosed that the winner and runner up players of each event would be awarded with cash prize of Rs. 1000/- and Rs. 500/- respectively with mementos. Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Udhampur, DySP Bodh Raj would be the nodal officer of the championship.
Among others, SSP Udhampur, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, Dy SP (DAR), Suram Singh, Staff Offcier to DIG, Nasir Ahmed, Zonal Sports Officers, Bhushan Sethi, Champa Devi and veteran sports persons, Raj Guru were present on the occasion.
