| CHPPWU supports strike of PDD daily wagers | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU Feb 7: Chenab Hydro Power Projects Workers Union (CHPPWU),Unit Baglihar affiliated with CITU conveyed an emergency meeting here at Bhaglihar to take stock of the strike by the workers of PDD. The meeting unanimously condemned the treatment meted to the workers by the administration.
Nasir Ali, Working President CHPPWU presided over the meeting and all the executive members of the CHPPWU attended the meeting in which threadbare discussions were held about the ongoing strike.
Nasir while criticising the callous attitude of government said that the prices of essential commodities have increased manifold as a result of which the workers were leading a miserable life due to the growing inflation, adding that the helplessness and pathetic conditions have compelled the workers to intensify their struggle.
The administration has always turned a deaf ear towards their genuine demands and their concerns have ever been taken casually.
He urged upon the government to initiate immediate negotiations with the protesting workers for their just and genuine demands. Others who spoke in the meeting included, Abdul Lateef Sr. Vice President , Mohammad Maqbool Vice President, Nishat Qazi Secretary of CHPPWU and Rajinder Dy. General Secretary and Gulzamir Ali.
CHPPWU expresses its full support to the agitating workers of PDD and urges upon the administration that immediate steps to be taken to release their hard earned wages without any further delay and steps be taken for their phased regularization. |
