Mufti seeks people's support against prevailing trust deficit in Omar regime | Stains of blood of Haji Yusuf still are fresh on their hands: Beigh | | Early Times Report kathua, Jan 7: Expressing his concern over prevailing trust deficit in the government and mal-administration in the state, former Chief Minister and patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today sought support of the people to change the present inefficient and corrupt system so as to give justice to the all sections of the society. While addressing a well attended public meeting at Kathua today chief patron PDP Mufti Sayeed alleged that the state government had eroded and undermined all prestigious democratic institutions in the state and corruption was rampant. "They are exposing themselves on corruption" Mufti said while referring to the blame game on corruption against each other by the government and added that the NC led coalition government was eroding and undermining the institutions which has shattered the faith of people in these institutions. Without naming Education Minister Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, the PDP leader said when the examination system is eroded to the extent for undue favours, how would people repose their faith in such institutions. Talking about rampant corruption in the state, the PDP patron said the governance deficit was the main reason of increasing alienation of the people. "Corruption has crossed all limits due to lack of transparency and accountability in the government," he said. Mufti alleged that the present regime has not only failed to consolidate the peace process initiated by the previous regime but has also spoiled the favourable atmosphere created by the previous government to further accelerate developmental activities. "This regime has failed to bring transparency and accountability in the governance." Mufti alleged. "The present regime during the last three years has derailed the whole process", he regretted and added that people were now fed up with this non serious regime, its mis-governance and the strikingly corrupt system. "Corruption has crossed all limits during the last three years because there is no transparency and accountability in the governance", he observed and present regime has been committing the same blunders which were committed by the earlier NC regime from 1996 to 2002. "PDP-Congress during its six years tenure had removed the trust deficit but the present government through its policy has fueled alienation among the people", he said. He reminded the people not only accountability and transparency was brought in the government but peoples' faith in the democracy was also revived during PDP-Congress regime. "Attaining power is not aim of the PDP. Our goal is to restore the lasting and sustainable peace in this region and to bring in over all change in the system to provide justice to all sections of the society", he said and reminded the gathering that PDP was formed to restore dignity and honour of the people of this State and to minimize miseries of the common masses. Listing achievements of the previous PDP-Congress regime in the State, former Chief Minister said that changes were visible during that period. "Not only atrocities and killing of innocent were stopped, peace to some extent was established all over the state during that period", he said. He said that it was result of the policies of the PDP-Congress government that ceasefire was announced on the border and peace was restored all along from Kathua to Kargil. While speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffer Hussain Baig hit hard at NC firebrand Dr. Mustafa Kamal saying that Kamal has no moral authority to point fingers on others when his house is in complete disorder. "Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his cohorts were involved in the custodial death of NC worker Haji Yusuf and Kamal is blaming others for distorting the image of coalition" Baig said and added that it was a mockery Kamal was indulging in. "He (Kamal) should first set his own house in order then speak against others" Baig said adding that stains of blood were still fresh on their hands. Dubbing present NC regime as total failure, Beigh said that Central government has sanctioned a whopping amount of Rs 31000 crore for the development of the state but the present government has failed to properly utilized the same amount. "State Government has to utilize an amount of Rs 6000 annually for five years, but this regime even failed to spent an amount not more than Rs 600 per annum", he said. Beigh also lashed out at NC leadership and said that the government has betrayed the people of the state. Beigh said the government was compounding its "crimes" by treating people's memory with contempt. Beigh said history of NC betrayals and sell outs cannot be erased or changed by spin doctoring the facts on the sad story of J&K. Meanwhile highlighting policies and programmes of the PDP, senior PDP leader said that policies and programmes of this party were guided by the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He especially mentioned that Mufti Mohammad Sayed as Chief Minister of the State had set an example of good governance and it was during the regime of Mufti Sayeed's regime recruitment system was streamlined as well as accountability and transparency were brought to recruit only genuine and deserving candidates on government jobs. "Unlike previous NC regime where backdoor appointments was a routine affair, PDP led regime provided corruption free and transparent government to people of Jammu and Kashmir", he said and asked the people to strengthen PDP to eradicate corruption from the society. Speaking on the occasion PDP general Secretary Thakur Balbir Singh demanded separate district for Bilawar, Basoli and Banni tehsils.
