Sham urges Panchs to step up vigil on essential service providing deptts
Distributes hearing aids among 55 beneficiaries

AKHNOOR, Feb 8: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma has called upon the Sarpanchs, Panchs to understand their responsibilities and serve the people with honesty and commitment.
He said Government has already empowered them and identified their role, now they should involve fully and come up to the expectations of the people for which they have been voted for.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting at Akhnoor, the Minister urged the Panchayat functionaries to step up their vigil on the service providing departments in the rural areas under their jurisdictions to ensure better service delivery to the peopole.
He stressed for special focus on PHE, PDD, education and social welfare departments in order to maintain punctuality, accountability and transparency in their functioning, adding that benefits of various welfare schemes like mid-day meal and proper diet to the children in ICDS Centres should reach to the needy. He asked for collective efforts to ensure all round development of the rural areas.
Maintaining that massive development has taken place in all the essential sectors in Akhnoor area, the Minister asked the people to protect the government assets.
He also directed the officers to coordinate with the Panchayat functionaries for achieving the meaningful results.
He directed them to attend people's problems on priority and to make judicious use of government funds.
Earlier, the Minister distributed 55 number of hearing aid machines to the deserving beneficiaries under Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) at Sub-District Hospital, Akhnoor. He also honored a youth of village Gurah Pattan, namely Ravi Kumar for saving the life of one lady while drowning in the Chenab River recently. He gave him a cash award of rupees one thousand and gallantry certificate for his exemplary courage.
He appreciated the gesture of this youth and said that others should take inspiration from him and always extend helping hand to the needy.
He also inspected the functioning of the SDH, Akhnoor and interacted with the doctors and patients.
He asked the doctors to work with extra vigor and zeal and provide best medicare to the patients.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu, Dr. Javed Chib, SDM, Akhnoor Naginder Singh Jamwal, Block Medical Officer, Akhnoor, Dr. Narinder Singh, veteran social worker and President Viklang Chhatra Trust, Satpal Saraf and large number of people from various parts of Akhnoor tehsil.
