Six accused held for arranging B.Ed seat in Jammu University on fake PRC
Rs.60,000 charged for admission

Crime Branch Jammu has produced challan of a case FIR NO 15/2003 under section 420/467/468/471 RPC against six accused allegedly involved in arranging admission for the aspiring candidates in B.Ed course here on fake Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC).
Giving details, Sunil Sharma SSP Crime and Railways said that one Smt Neelam Kumari wife of Vijay Kumar Gupta of Model Town Amritsar Punjab was running an educational academy at Sharief Pura near Bus stand Amritsar by the name of ‘Sigma Academy’. She advertised in daily Ajit newspaper that the academy is arranging admission of students in BEd course in University of Jammu. They used to take huge amount from the locals of Punjab on the promise to provide admission in B Ed course in Jammu University. Accordingly Neelam Kumari and her co-accused Amit Kumar son of Vijay Kumar Gupta of Model Town Amritsar, Raju Sylister son of Josphal Gill of Christian colony Jammu, Ashok Kumar son of Ram Dass of Upper Gadi Garh Jammu, Sohan Lal @ Soma son of Milkhi Ram of Bhour camp Jammu and Om Prakash son of Gian Chand of Vikas Nagar Sarwal Jammu promised one Sandeep Kumari daughter of Darvinder Singh of Fatehwalla Batala Punjab for admission in B Ed course and took Rs.60,000 from her along with all the documents and deposited her application form in the University showing her a resident of Jammu and managed a fake PRC in her name and deposited the same in the University along with other documents. Later on, the said PRC was sent to Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu for verification and on verification the said PRC was declared as fake and a case registered in the instant case.
The SSP further said that during the course of investigation, Crime Branch conducted raids in Simga Academy and recovered blank PRC forms and documents and arrested the accused persons. Specimen signatures, handwriting and fingerprints of the accused were sent to FSL Jammu along with the seized records and other documents for expert opinion, the SSP added.
During sustained investigation, the SSP said, it was found that the accused Neelam Kumari and Amit Kumar contacted accused Raju Sylister, Ashok Kumar and Sohan Lal and with their help prepared a fake PRC and contacted Om Prakash Verma, who was working in Jammu University as a cultural officer at that time, for his help in seeking admission of the candidate. However, the University rejected the admission of Sandeep Kour, the SSP added.
