PHE employees stage protest, highlights demands

Jammu, Feb 8: Hundreds of PHE Employees/ Work-ers held massive protest under the banner of PHE Workers Welfare Associ-ation outside the Office of the Chief Engineer PHE Department B.C. Road Jammu today to draw the attention of the PHE higher authority towards the unresolved long pending genuine demands.
Amid anti government slogans, the protestors highlighted their demands including enhancing daily rated wages upto Rs. 125/ - per day to all sorts of workers, wages to be disbursed regularly, regularization of all workers as engaged-prior and after year 1994 all the workers engaged Nove-mber 2005 be treated as daily rated workers, the 4th class employees those' who have completed more than two years at one place be sent back to their previous respective sub-divisions, maintaining of seniority list and conducting of DPC against posts vacated due to retirements and promotions and technical higher grades and risk allow-ance be given to the technical employees etc. Addressing the protestors Bakshi Singh demanded higher technical grades and risk allowance for all the technical employees. He announced if the demands are not conceded by 26th February 2012 the association will stage three days consecutive Dharna from 27th of February to 29th of February 2012 in the premises of the PHE X-Ens throughout the Jammu Province.
Subash Verma Provincial General Secret-ary of the association said that the commitments as already made by the Minister for PHE/Irrigation and Flood Control Depart-ment especially regarding daily rated workers of the PHE Department have not fulfilled till today. Among other senior leaders who addressed the protest included Rattan Doshi, Surinder Kumar, Swaran Singh, Joginder Sharma, Chuni Lal, Vijay Singh, Lal Chand, Babu Singh, Bansi Lal and etc.
