Kashmiri youth disillusioned with militancy want to lead violence free life | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 8: Notwithstanding the efforts of Hurriyat and other separatists factions in Valley to regroup the youth for a 1989 type secessionist movement in Kashmir, the majority of Kashmiri youth is now disillusioned with militancy as well as violence and want to lead a peaceful and prosperous life. The common man in Kashmir who has suffered a lot over 23 years of proxy war sees the gun his worst enemy which has been the root cause of his destruction and devastation. The Kashmiris now realise that taking to arms for socalled Azadi was not a right decision as it gave them nothing except a bad name and hatred, said GA Mir an engineer by profession. ``We suffered a lot over the two decades and it is difficult to overcome that loss'', he said adding the precious innocent lives including the youth who were killed during the turmoil either through armed militants or security forces has been a great loss to the Valley. Making a dig at Pakistan this young software engineer said that the neighboring country has misled the Kashmiris since 1947 and now it too has realized that Pakistan can't annex the Kashmir on the basis of war or proxy war. “If this was true then why did Pakistan played with the future of our youth by misleading them. Still we should be thankful to Geelani for his admission of the facts and telling the truth to the people” he added. Mir said he is hopeful that after this statement of Pak Premier there is any doubt left in the minds of Kashmiris in general and youth in particular. ``instead of looking to Pakistan for help the Kashmiris should now concentrate on the development of state and work for the restoration of its composite culture so that peace and prosperity returns to Valley once for all. Not only the Mir but many other Kashmiri youth working as professionals outside Valley also think on same lines and want their brethren in Valley to see through the statement of Pak Prime Minister. He made a candid admission that Pakistan has no match with India in any respect where the democracy has flourished over the years, said Abdul Raza a medical profession from Valley working at Delhi. ``Though belated but it is a welcome decision'' said he, adding the Pak PM has spoken his inner voice which no other politician of Pakistan could dare to tell. Geelani has realized after the recent differences of Pak army with political government that fate of democracy in Pakistan is always uncertain. He said seeing that the fate of his government is uncertain, Pak Premier has spoken truth and also made the Kashmiris aware of the reality about Pakistan who over the years were swayed by false propaganda launched by Pakistan against India. Had Pakistan realized this reality earlier the three wars would have been averted with India, said Roshan Din a Gujjar youth from Kapran area of Veerinag. Thousands of people lost their lives during last 22 years of proxy war and thousands children became orphans while thousands of women became widows over these years. The progress of the state came to a grinding halt over these years as government has to concentrate on eradication of militancy who razed maximum number of schools, hospitals and other government buildings to ground over their years putting people to a lot of trouble, he added. But now it is hoped that the people of Kashmir will never trust Pakistan in future and work for their own welfare, he said. |
