Alleged Multi Crore Scam complaint filed against Taj
Court directs SSP VOJ for verifying allegations against Minister for PHE

JAMMU, Feb 8: In a complaint filed by Jan Mohd Rishi presently Nowabad Bathindi Jammu seeking appropriate directions to the State Vigilance Organization to register an FIR in multicrore scam in PHE/Irrigation/ Flood Control Dept during the tenure of Taj Mohi-ud-Din Cabinet Minister, Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu asked SSP VOJ for verification of allegations and further necessary action under law.
Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal today received this complaint through Speed Post and same forwarded in original to SSP VOJ for verification of allegations and further necessary action under law.
In the complaint it has been recently the Public Accounts Committee of J&K Legislative Assembly under the Chairmanship of Professor Chaman Lal Gupta held its meeting which was attended by the other members namely Mohd Sharief Naiz, Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Mansoor Hussain, Jagdish Raj Sapolia, Khalid Najib Sohrawardy and Naresh Kumar Gupta. In the said meeting the PAC express its anguish and displeasures over rampant corruption and open loot of state exchequer in the PHE Dept.
The members in one voice raised the issue of purchase sub-standard pipes by the PHE Dept during tenures of Taj Mohi-ud-Din as its minister and demanded a thorough probe through premier investigating agency of the country CBI. The entire process of purchase involves crores of rupees and substandard pipes have been purchased causing heavy loss to the state exchequer and entire records pertaining to the said purchase during the tenure as Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din is required to be scrutinized for unearthing one of the biggest purchase scam in the state.
In the complaint it has been further submitted that Multicrore scam in PHE Division Rajouri where crores of rupees were swindled by giving the contracts without tenders.
It is further submitted in the complaint that diversion of Rupees 18 Crore NRDWP funds to Doda. It is submitted that Mehbood Iqbal IAS retired commissioner/Secretary PHE and irrigation a close kin of Taj Mohi-ud-Din while demitting his office and superannuation diverted Rs 18 crores of centrally sponsored Drinking Water Scheme to his home District of Doda and particularly Bhaderwah Assembly Segment. In the complaint it has been further submitted that role of minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din and former commissioner/secretary needs to be looked into as both of them abused their official position by diverting Rs 18 Crores Central Funds which power was not vested in both of them.
In the complaint the complainant prayed before the Court that keeping in view the submissions made, Court may very kindly be pleased to direct the concerned functionaries in SVO to investigate the above referred complaint in the interest of justice. (JNF)
