DRDA organizes awareness camp on SGSY

KATHUA, Feb 8: With the aim to aware the rural masses about Swarn Jayanti Grameen Swarozgar Youjna (SGSY), a one day awareness camp was organized by District Rural Development Agency, Kathua in Chhan Arorian of Tehsil Hiranagar. MLC, Subash Gupta appealed the youth to take maximum benefit of various self employment schemes sponsored by Centre and state government. He said that the coalition government is making all out efforts to create maximum employment opportunities to the youth of the state by launching various programmes.
MLA Hiranagar, Durga Dass stressed upon the youth to make their mindset to establish their own units, adding more such programme should be organised in rural and far off areas of the Tehsil. District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Zahiada Khan while speaking said that the aim to organize awareness camp is to make people aware of various tailor-made schemes which helps them to become self reliant. She appealed the people to take maximum benefit of these schemes which not only guarantee employment but also in elevating economic upliftment of the rural population. Project Officer, DRDA, Kathua Jyoti Slathia threw light on various schemes under DRDA, and further asked the Panchas and Sarpanchs to help in spreading the object of the schemes so that maximum people could get the benefit of the scheme. She briefed the people about the procedure and guidelines for the establishment of new Self Help Groups. A brief procedure was apprised by the banks officers for funding various projects under the sch-eme. Representatives of Apiculture, Sheep Husbandry, Employment and Agriculture department also apprised the people about various self employment schemes under their respective departments ADDC, Kathua, Ajay Jam-wal, Dy Director (Employment), Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Project Officer DRDA, Raj Singh representatives of Banks, Panchs and Sarpanchs, members of various Self Help Groups and large number of people of surrounding villages were also present.
