| SVO books DIET Junior Assistant. | | Possess property worth over Rs.50 lakhs | | Jammu | Jan17 Crime Branch Jammu has registered a case and started investigation against Mumtaz Hussain Bhat S/O Late Mohd Sharief Bhat R/O Ward No.9 Jarnaili Mohalla Poonch, the then Junior Assistant Zonal Education Office, Mandi presently District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Poonch, for possessing moveable and immoveable property disproportionately beyond his known source of income. A Vigilance spokesman said that following reports of amassing huge property worth over Rs.50 lakhs by indulging in corrupt practices, the Vigilance Organization started a preliminary inquiry and prima facie established that the Bhat was possessing property beyond his known source of income. The spokesman said that it has been established the alleged accused owned a pacca residential house in Ward No. 9 Mohalla Jarnaili, Poonch; a triple storey building with three shops on ground floor at Gandhi Kassi, Poonch and a single storey house at Alla Peer, Ward No. 12, Poonch. In addition, the official also owned movable property like bank deposits, electronic equipments, household gadgets etc and the combined value of the assets was estimated around Rs.50 lakh approximately, far beyond his legitimate known sources of income, thus constitutes offence u/s 5(1) (e) read with Sec. 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006 Accordingly, a formal case was registered against him and investigation set into motion. Search of the house at Jarnaili Mohalla ward No. 9, Poonch, where the accused presently puts up, was in progress when the reports last came in, the spokesman added..
