NC led govt legalized corruption: PDP | | | early times report Jammu, Feb 9: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said the National Conference government was corrupt and had been looting he state exchequer. "Not only two ministers, the Chief Minister himself is yet to come clean in corruption charges", the PDP leaders said in a handout during a press conference here today. The handout said the Chief Minister always sought proof whenever opposition raised issues of corruption. "Now we have the proof against Omar and his father in the killing of NC worker Haji Yusuf. However, the chances of any action against them are quite bleak." When the Chief Minister is facing corruption charges , how can he take action against his ministers, the handout questioned." Recent incident of Education Minister Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed is glaring example how system has been eroded in the state during the last three years. How a common man would expect justice from the government where Ministers are abusing sanctity of examinations", the handout read The PDP, said the handout, has observed that the probe ordered by Omar Abdullah in Yusuf killing is a mere eye wash. "As long he continues to hold the chair of Chief Minister, free and fair probe is not possible. The government has been harassing the family members of the deceased worker." Legalization of corruption, the handout said, has been the only achievement of this government."Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has doled out licenses of its ministers and other ruling elites to loot the state exchequer. It is unfortunate that common masses are suffering a lot due to prevailing anarchy in the state." The handout made a mention of State Accountability Commission set up by Mufti Sayed in 2003 with the objective of curbing corruption in high places. "The institution was the equivalent of the proposed Lokpal and brought even the Chief Minister of the state under its purview. Though it had started well but unfortunately the present government made it completely defunct for more than two years and in the process the commission suffered a credibility crisis." |
