| Police martyrs badminton C'ship gets underway | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Feb 9: With a view to pay tributes to the police Martyrs and to strengthen police public relations, Police Martyrs Memorial Badminton Championship got underway at Indoor Badminton Complex Udhampur here today. The tournament is being organized by the Udhampur -Reasi Range Police under Civic Action Plan.
District Development Commissioner Udhampur, P.K Pole who was the chief guest on the occasion formally declared the championship open.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur- Reasi Range, Jagjit Kumar, SSP Udhampur, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, Principal Govt. Degree College Udhampur, Dr. Nutun Kumar, Staff Officer to DIG, Nasir Ahmed, Dy. SP, Bodh Raj (Nodal Officer), Officers of Youth Services & Sports Department, veteran players, prominent citizens and number of sports lovers were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that holding of this tournament was a step forward to remember the supreme sacrifices of our brave police martyrs and to courage the sports culture for healthy society. He hoped that tournament would go a long way in attracting the youth towards games and also prove a step forward to strengthen the police- public relation in a big way. The DIG said that the championship is being organized with the Technical Assistance of Youth Services and sports departments as per the rules and regulations of Badminton Association of India. He said that as many as 111 badminton players from the district Udhampur and Reasi are participating in this championship under 14 years boys and girls, 19 years boys, 19 years girls, above 19 to 45 years and above 45 years categories. |
