JMRA protests against 'state govt's new drug policy' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 9: Taking strong notice of the new drug policy of the state government, the Jammu Medical Representatives Association (JMRA) protested against the implementation of "New Drug Policy" in J&K state. "The govt is propagating this policy as pro-poor, whereas in reality this policy is against the interests of the general public, the JMRA Spokesperson said. The statement issued from JMRA spokesperson today, under new drug policy, the medicines will be sold through Govt owned outlets only, whereas no medicines will be given free of cost. "Thousands of people in this profession will be rendered jobless. It is not just a matter of thousands of people, it is a matter of thousands of families, it added. The statement said that secondly, to implement this policy Govt. needs to have a proper infrastructure to fulfill the high demands of general public. At present no such infrastructure is ready with the Govt. under present circumstances. No one seems to be benefited from this policy. "Moreover this policy can force the organized pharmaceutical sector to withdraw from the state with result state could be deprived of high quality medicines and new research molecules. If this happens, it will affect the general public very badly, it said. The statement underlined if govt is seriously interested in the welfare of general public then it should implement supreme court order of bringing all 380 medicines under DPCO. |
