| Special publicity programme organized | | | JAMMU | JAN 17 On the second day of the 7-day long Public Information Campaign, launched by Press information Bureau, Government of India in the border block of R.S Pura district, the Central Field Publicity Units of Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur, Doda and Poonch carried out special programme. The Udhampur unit of DFP, in co-ordination with other Government agencies organized a symposium on “ Adolescent Girl” in the block. In all six students spoke on the subject and showed their concern over the female feticides. They warned the audience of the havoc results if this practice is not stopped forthwith. Dr. Sonica Gupta, who acted as resource person, delivered lecture on health and hygiene. He laid stress on the audience to be aware of such acts with which they can be involved in AIDS like killer disease. The Kathua unit of DFP organized an Inter-School symposium followed by Quiz contest at Government Girls High School Badyal Brahmana. Five students besides experts from Community Health Centre, namely Dr. Sushant and Dr. Shivani delivered key note address on health related issues with special emphasis on National Rural Health Mission. Presentation of Song and Drama Programmes by M/s Vishwanath & Party enthralled the audience and remained the main attraction of the day long programme. The Doda Unit of DFP, in close co-ordination with Rural Development, Health, ICDS and Education departments organized a Symposium on AIDS awareness at Bagga Jana. In all, eight students took part in the Symposium and expressed their views on AIDS. The village is pre-dominated by Scheduled Caste community. A cultural programme on this occasion was presented by M/s Nazir Ahmed & Party. The Rajouri Unit organized a Seminar on Kishori Shakti Yojana in co-operation with various departments at Child Development Project Office Complex, it was chaired by Usha Badyal, CDPO while Dr. Des Raj, BMO was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Anganwadi Workers from R.S. Pura Zone having a total of 291 Anganwadi Centres witnessed the programme. The experts highlighted Women & Empowerment policies of the government, M/s Premi & Party under Song & Drama Division presented a colourful programme.
