| Desperate Congress launches Priyanka's two children in Raebareli? | | All For Votes | | ET Report
Jammu, Feb 9: First it was Sonia Gandhi, the "symbol of supreme sacrifice", whom the leaderless Congress launched after the tragic death of her husband and son of the slain former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, for keeping the party intact and providing leadership to the party and the country. During the 2009 general elections, some UP Congress leaders described Sonia Gandhi as "Bharat Mata". Earlier, a very senior Congress leader Dev Kant Barua had described "Indira as India and India as Indira". "Indira is India and India is Indira," he had said. Almost at the same time, the UP Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari, who was shunted out of the Andhra Pradesh Raj Bhawan only recently for indulging in immoral activities (sex scandal), had kept the chapples of Indira Gandhi's son Sanjay Gandhi on his head. Such was the respect for Indira Gandhi, Sanjay Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Sonia Gandhi continues to be venerated and worshipped by all the Congressmen, without any exception.
The Congressmen were not really happy with the launching of just Sonia Gandhi, notwithstanding the fact that the Congress, in collaboration with a number of "secular" formations, has been ruling the country since May 2004, with Sonia Gandhi not only leading the party but also the UPA in her capacity as its chairperson. They worked hard and they and Sonia Gandhi launched Rahul Gandhi, Sonia's son, some eight years ago. He entered the Lok Sabha in May 2004 and he continues to be a member of the Lok Sabha, which he seldom attends. During the last winter session, Rahul Gandhi attended the session only once on December 27 because there was voting that day on the Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill. According to all the senior Congress leaders, all the senior Congress ministers and all the Congress spokespersons, Rahul Gandhi is a statesman par excellence and a great political figure India ever produced.
Almost at the same time, Sonia Gandhi launched her daughter Priyanka Gandhi, who is married to Robert Vadra, a Christian and leading businessman, for strengthening the party in the Amethi and Raebareli Lok Sabha constituencies, as also for strengthening the hands of Rahul Gandhi. She worked in these two constituencies in 2004 and 2009. She is again campaigning for the Congress party in these constituencies to ensure the victory of the party candidates seeking election to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, very crucial elections for Rahul Gandhi.
But the Congress leadership did not feel fully satisfied because Priyanka's husband Robert Vadra was not seen campaigning for the party in Uttar Pradesh. Ultimately, he was launched four days ago in Amethi, where he said he was prepared to contest election and serve the poor people if the people would so like and added that "right now it is the turn of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka's turn would come after Rahul's term is over and our whole family is there to play its role as we belong to a political family".
It may appear unbelievable and ridiculous, but it is a hard fact that today Priyanka Vadra launched her two very small children in Raebareli and addressed a number of election rallies with her two sons sharing the dais and Congress leaders garlanding Priyanka and her sons with enthusiasm and great commitment. She compared the life of Raebareli children with that of her children and said the non-Congress parties are responsible for their miserable condition and sought vote and support for the Congress candidates.
Don't ask why she launched them. Even a fool would take no time in understanding the political meaning of what she did. Sonia Gandhi and her family, which now consists of mother and son, and Robert Vadra and his family comprising Priyanka and two small kids are there to serve the Indian poor and give a right lead and right direction to the country. How fortunate India is! The nation must feel grateful to the Congress party which has produced such great leaders. It's time to say Sonia and her family and Rabert and his family ae India and the vice-versa. What is all this? |
