Cross LoC Traders Union submits Memorandum to Governor | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 10: A delegation of the Salamabad-Chakoti Traders Union, Srinagar met N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today and submitted to him a Memorandum of their demands. The demands presented by the delegation led by Mr. Mohammad Tariq Khan, President of the Traders Union, included, interalia, quarterly review of Standard Operating Procedure for cross-LoC trade and inclusion of more items/goods for trade, facilitating regular Zero Point meetings of traders from both sides, facilitating visit of a 10-member delegation from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad, provision of telephone facilities, registration of cross LoC traders and waiver from the payment of VAT on items covered under LoC trade with retrospective effect from 21-10-2008. The delegation thanked the Governor for taking keen interest for the promotion of the cross LoC trade and the welfare of the traders. The Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and informed them that he shall take up all these issues with the concerned authorities in the Central and the State Governments. The 6-member delegation comprised Raja Zahoor Khan, Farooq Ahmad Baghu, Rashid Ali Zargar, Manzoor Ahmad Khan and Javed Ahmad. |
