Symposium on Ethics & Business held

Jammu, Feb 10: The Department of Management Studies (BBA Prog.) of Govt. Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu organized an Inter-College Symposium on Ethics & Business.
Prof. Deshbandu Gupta, Director College Development, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion, He said, "the Process of globalisation and liberalisation is bringing sweeping changes in the concept of doing business and at the same time work is also going on towards validation and evaluation of goals, concept and practices both in govt., and in business. While transparency and Accountability are insisted from govt., business has to provide efficiency, effectiveness and quality. Little is being said about ethics of doing Business. Because of certain reasons the ethical questions are left to government to handle them through law and administration.
The issue does not find priority in business community. It has been widely found that there is no lack of knowledge in this respect. The problem is of acceptance and practice of principles of ethics governing behaviour".
In his presidential remarks, Dr.Youdhvir Singh, Principal GDC Leh, emphasized the need for adherence to ethical practices to create lasting relations between the business and society.
Dr. Ashok Koul, former Principal GDC Reasi opined that ethical Business practices can create opportunities for growth of Business resulting in Sales and Profit maximization. Dr. Ajeet Angral, Principal of the College appreciated the participants for their knowledge and wisdom. He also exhorted the participants to follow ethical practices, rather than following shortcuts in all walks of life. Prof. Ajeet Angral advised students to participate in such type of programmes.Radhika Mahajan Of Govt. College for Women, Parade secured first place whereas Shruti Kak of Govt. M.A.M. College and Ritikesh Sharma of Govt.S.P.M.R. College secured was placed at second and third positions respectively.
The symposium was judged by Prof. Tarsem Lal, Prof. Bodhraj and Prof. V.K. Suri.
Prof. Raj shree Dhar, Convener, BBA Development Committee presented formal Welcome address while Prof. Anil Sharma of Management Studies Department presented vote of thanks.
