Natraj Natya Kunj stages 'The Government Inspector'

Jammu, Feb 10: Hindustani adaptation of Russian Play, 'The Government Inspector', written by Nicolai Gogol's and adapted by Kumar A Bharti was staged in Hindustani Style by Natraj Natya Kunj, Jammu at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Amit Choudhary Film Producer & Director was Chief Guest and Dr Sudhir Mahajan Senior Drama Instructor J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages Jammu was Guest of Honour.
Play opens with a discussion between the Social and Administrative machinery of Government of various ranks, gets secret information that an "Government Inspector" has reached the town to look into the affairs of public administration. The town's Mayor, as well, as the leading government officials discuss about the consequences of the visit, as they don't even known what is the motive of this sudden visit.
Much to their panic, they by mistake recognize 'Kumar Sahib', a man fond of high life style, a high ranking Government Inspector. Kumar Sahib is forced to leave, hotel and stay at Mayor's Residence. Mayor tried to please Kumar Sahib with bribe and flattery. Kumar Sahib enjoyed most of this misconception by weaving and elaborating tales of his life posing as a high official and accepting bribes from the town officials. Both wife and daughter of mayor fell in love with him.
After proposing to the Mayor's daughter Kumar Sahib flees with money cheated from them. Before his true identity disclosed, the town officials did not disclose their mistake until after he had long gone and moments before the announcement and the arrival of 'The Real Government Inspector'.
In this adaptation Writer/Adapter had tried to expose bureaucracy of the Indian society through a corrupt system and we the common man, know it, bear it, bear with it, laugh at it, and try to wash it away but in vain. The artists of the play did well and were much applauded by the audience. Manoj Dhamir Shammi, Aaditya Bharti, Raman Bakshi, Rinku Mehra, Kanav Sharma, Rakesh Dogra, Mukesh Bakshi, Abhishek Sharma, Diwakar Menra, Lalit Sharma, Rahul Sharma, Nidhi & Madhu Sanjwal justified their character
In the end Dr. Surdhir Mahajan was honoured by NNKJ on getting award from Ministry of HRD for his contribution in the field of Theatre.
