KP youth feel betrayed by NC led coalition | PM's employment package | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 10: Failure of government to keep up its commitment to implement the Prime Minister's employment package for Kashmiri migrants by ending December last year has led to lot of resentment among the displaced youth in particular and Kashmiri migrants in general. The Union Home Ministry representative has given an undertaking to National human Rights Commission New Delhi on November 18 that PM's employment package will be implemented by ending December last year but after the lapse of over one 40 days no headway has been made in this regard. This has led to a brewing resentment among displaced youth who have already filled up the forms for various posts under the package. It may be recalled that 6000 posts were sanctioned as a special employment package for displaced youth for their rehabilitation in Valley a basic Confidence building Measure (CBM) for the community. Though PM announced the package in July 2008 at Akhnoor but in last four years only 1752 posts were filled up while the rest are still unfilled. Out of these 6000 posts 3000 were to be under central sponsorship while the rest 3000 were under the state government. Out of them advertisements were in the first phase made for 3000 posts under Central sponsorship and of them too only 1752 posts were filled up while rest are unfilled. Though 800 posts among them were in reserved category and they too were de-reserved through a Cabinet decision two months back but the recruitment process is being delayed for unknown reasons, said Sanjay Kaul a youth leader who led the recent agitation for implementation of the package. Kaul said that government is delaying the recruitment process unnecessarily and the Law Department was creating hurdles as Attorney General has recommended calling of fresh advertisement instead of making selections from waiting list candidates. He said the waiting list candidates were earlier assured by the government that they will be given preference in the next list but now the government is backtracking from its word. This is totally injustice with these candidates who have already become overaged and have a bleak future ahead if they were not considered for the appointment. He said some of these candidates who were working in private companies left the job and were waiting to get the appointment orders. But by the delaying tactics adopted by the government it appears the authorities are dodging the youth. Kaul said the displaced youth will now intensify the agitation in case the orders were not issued by next week. He said a delegation of the youth also called on chief Secretary Madhav Lal here yesterday and he assured that the justice will be made with the waiting list candidates. |
