"Needless" proposals by Mantris compel Traffic police brass to stop routine transfers! | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 10: The Traffic wing of state police department seems to be feeling "uneasy" since past over a month. "All thanks to the political pressure, pertaining to transfers and postings of non gazette rank Cops, mounted on senior police officers," if sources are to be believed. While the concerned senior police officers in Traffic wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police are tight lipped over the issue, highly placed sources in the police department revealed to Early Times that, "following political interference here in the winter capital by some Jammu based ministers, the routine transfers of Cops especially Constable, Selection Grade Constables and Head Constables has not been effected by the senior police officers despite the fact that the same would have been effected almost two months back." "No transfer of NGO rank police personnel has been made since past over four months for unknown reasons," confirmed sources in Traffic wing. "In routine practice, the senior officers orders transfers and adjustments of NGO after every three months. Under the said practice, the Cops are shifted from one point to another. There about 50 traffic points in and around the city including various rotaries and roads that witness big traffic jams," sources further shared and added that "however, after receiving phones calls of some ministers including two from Congress and one from National Conference (NC) recommending/suggesting the police officers names of their blue eyed to be posted at their respective choices, the senior officers are no mood to follow/obey the recommendations of Ministers." "Most of Cops in traffic wing have managed their transfers and adjustments in Traffic wing and further in Jammu district through the political heavyweights as they (Cops) belong to their respective Assembly Constituencies and vote in their favour. So in lieu of the votes, they approach the political big wigs to influence the senior officers for their adjustments at lucrative traffic points after every three months," disclosed sources. "Such a practice must be stopped by the political leaders it will encourage indiscipline among the belt force. Further, the decision of postings must be left to the concerned senior officer who had to get the work done. Another important factor is that if only a handful of Cops will manage postings of their own choice, then it would discourage the honest and committed police personnel in Traffic wing," shared a Traffic wing police officer posted in Jammu, while speaking ET on the condition of anonymity. |
