| Army continues humanitarian efforts in Valley | | | Early Times Report
Anantnag, Feb, 11: As the normal life in Kashmir was affected on Saturday due to strike called by the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front on 28th death anniversary of its founder Mohammad Maqbool Bhat. Shops, banks and other business and commercial establishments remained closed due to the strike, supported by both factions of
Hurriyat Conference.
However Army continued its job to give relief to the economically and socially backward people in various parts of the valley, by means of providing free medicines and medical treatment.
Similarly, with an aim to provide special medical treatment to the villagers of far-flung areas of south Kashmir. A medical camp was organised by 36 Rashtriya Rifles (Garhwal Rifles) under the aegis of Headquarters 2 Sector Rashtriya Rifles at Larikpur (Doru) in South Kashmir with assistance from the civil medical authorities. Aim of the medical camp was to provide special medical care to the villagers in the far-flung areas right at their door step.
Through close liaison with the Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag, the camp was conducted by a team of 10 civil doctors including Physician, Surgeon, Gynecologist, Pediatrician, Ophthalmologist, ENT specialist Dermatologist, Dentist and two lady doctors. A total of two doctors from Army also provided medical assistance at the medical camp.
The medical camp was inaugurated by village elder. While addressing the media and locals, Brigadier Sanjay Gupta, Commander 2 Sector RR said that Army will continue to conduct such medical camps for the people of remote areas of Kashmir Valley as also other development programs to bring normalcy and induce confidence among the local populace in Army and in the civil administration.
The medical camp was a huge success, as a total of 3115 patients of all age groups including women and children were attended by a team of civil and military doctors. Large quantity of medicines were distributed free of cost at the camp. The people expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation for this humane gesture of the Army in fulfilling basic medical needs of the populace. |
