More trouble for people as WD approaching J&K | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 11 : More trouble is predicted for the people in Jammu and Kashmir as fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is approaching the region which could result in light to moderate rain and snowfall from tomorrow evening to Tuesday morning, likely to affect surface and air traffic. Night remained cold because of below normal temperature while the maximum temperature was above normal, providing some respite to people, who had witnessed harsh winter this time after about a decade. A Met department spokesperson said, light rain or snow would occur at few places over Jammu and Kashmir in the next 24 hours. Moderate to rather heavy rain or snow would occur from tomorrow during the subsequent two days. Met spokesperson said a WD, originating in Arabian sea and towards entering the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan is heading Jammu and Kashmir and is likely to affect from the evening of February 12th to morning of February 14th. Under the influence of this weather system, light to moderate rain or snowfall will occur at most places in Kashmir and Jammu region , he said, adding some places along Pirpanjal range may receive rather heavy rain or snowfall. Very light to light snowfall is also likely to occuer at few places in Ladakh region particularly along Drass, the second coldest place in the world after Siberia, border town of Kargil and Zanskar regions. He said this system, likely to move in a South-East ward direction of Jammu and Kashmir, will disrupt surface and air transport systems of the state. |
